Russian drones struck Kyiv on September 2, 2026, during a seventh consecutive day of major attacks against the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian authorities reported that at least 11 people were wounded and that residential and other infrastructure was damaged.
The attacks involved drones entering central areas of Kyiv and caused fires and structural damage. Emergency personnel responded to several locations while Ukrainian air defense systems operated against incoming weapons.
Russia also attacked energy infrastructure in Ukraine's Odesa region during the same period. Russian forces have increasingly used large groups of drones and missiles against Ukrainian cities, transportation networks, energy systems, industrial facilities, and other targets behind the front lines.
Russia states that its military operations target Ukrainian military and military-related infrastructure. Ukraine has accused Russia of repeatedly striking residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, while Russia has made similar allegations concerning Ukrainian long-range attacks inside Russian territory.
The continuing strikes are part of a broader campaign in which both countries have expanded the use of long-range drones and missiles. Ukraine has simultaneously conducted attacks against Russian refineries, military facilities, transportation networks, and other infrastructure located hundreds of kilometers from the border.
