A rabbi in northeast Miami-Dade County faced a robbery charge following a confrontation with a county water meter reader outside his synagogue, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the incident began when a Miami-Dade County water meter reader was performing his duties outside the synagogue. The rabbi allegedly confronted the worker during the encounter.
According to deputies, the confrontation resulted in the rabbi being accused of taking property from the water meter reader. The circumstances surrounding the alleged taking formed the basis of the robbery charge.
The case involved a dispute between a religious leader and a county employee carrying out water-meter-related work. The alleged incident occurred at or near the synagogue in northeast Miami-Dade County.
The robbery allegation was a criminal charge and did not by itself establish that the rabbi was guilty. Any determination of criminal responsibility would be made through the court process.
